Types of massage

Holistic massage is one of the oldest healing arts, treating mind, body and spirit – the whole, complete person.  Massage promotes health and wellbeing and aims to relax, soothe, energise and revitalize by using a combination of essential organic oils and the therapeutic application of touch on the skin, muscles and joints.

As a qualified therapist with a thorough understanding of Anatomy and Physiology I can treat many physical conditions whilst relaxing your body and mind, holistic massage can be used to complement traditional medicine in the treatment of specific symptoms and conditions.

The Indian Head Massage originates from ancient Indian Ayurvedic treatments which have been used for centuries.  It works on the chakras to increase energy flow and remove blocks in these energy channels. It eases strain and tension that has accumulated in the tissues, muscles and joints of the head, face, neck and shoulders.  Indian Head massage can help with fatigue, stress, headaches, insomnia, migraines and sinusitis and will help with joint mobility and flexibility in the neck and shoulders while improving circulation and lymphatic flow.  Ideal for those with limited time to spare as this treatment is carried out without oils and fully clothed.

Japanese face massage (Tsuboki style) is a profound combination of traditional Japanese medial concepts concerned with improving: the condition of the skin tone and lymph flow using Anma techniques; muscle tone by working with the musculature at a deeper level; the flow of Ki (life force energy) by working on the meridians (concentrating on specific acupressure points, or tsubos.  Many of the techniques used can help to prevent wrinkles, lines and puffiness - a natural facelift and deeply relaxing experience!

Reflexology dates back to ancient Eygpt and China and can be used to restore and maintain the body’s natural equilibrium.  It is a process whereby pressure is applied on reflex areas on the feet which correspond to all parts, gland and organs of the body and will promote physiological changes in the body.  Reflexology is used to rebalance and unblock the energy in your body and stimulate the natural healing process.
